This is the perfect time of the year to say, “let’s get to the meat and potatoes”. Talk to me…
Okay! You hear that most people have a Vitamin D deficiency and you go to your doctor to get a blood test and your blood test results have shown that you are Vitamin D deficient, chances are your doctor prescribed Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) supplements instead of D3 (cholecalciferol). Well the report that I read from The American Journal of Nutrition states, “the very clear difference between Vitamin D3 and Vitamin D2, the latter, the “form of vitamin D used in major prescriptions in North America.”1 Vitamin D2 is, in fact, not the bioavailable equivalent of D3.
The inefficiency of vitamin D2 compared Vitamin D3 is now well documented, and no successful clinical trials to date have shown that vitamin D2 prevents fractures. One of the primary dangers of Vitamin D2 is that there is a fine line between an effective therapeutic dose and toxicity.
This May Change Your Life
A study has linked vitamin D deficiency with an increased risk for cancer and autoimmune diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis MS, lupus, heart disease and heart attacks and Stroke. Vitamin D3 deficiency is a major environmental factor in increasing the risk of developing these disorders.
What if I told you that it is estimated that 70 percent of children and adults in the U.S. are vitamin D deficient? The cause of deficiency is a combination of not getting enough exposure to the sun and not having enough vitamin D3 in their diets.
Medications Can Affect The Absorption Of Vitamin D
Hydroxychloroquine, or Plaquenil, and corticosteroids, which both can be prescribed for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, are among these. Even if you are taking one of these drugs, your doctor can adjust your vitamin D-3 dose to correct the malabsorption.
You can ask your doctor as discussed earlier, to give you a simple blood test called, 25-hydroxy vitamin D test.
To increase your level of vitamin D through food, you should include more oily fish, such as salmon, mackerel and tuna. Egg yolks and mushrooms also provide vitamin D.
Sunshine – Bring It On
Just 15 minutes of exposure to the sun gives you 20,000 IUs of vitamin D. However, this is without sunblock in the summer, and be aware that you need to be careful not to expose your skin to the sun without sunblock for long periods of time. This can cause skin damage and increase your risk of skin cancer.
Not only does vitamin D-3 play a huge role in the absorption of calcium, but it can fend off osteoporosis, which can be a risk for people with RA. A lack of vitamin D-3 may play a role in chronic pain caused by many conditions. Research tells us that vitamin D deficiency may be implicated in musculoskeletal conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, neuropathy, migraine, and inflammation. Can you imagine using Organic Sulfur and Vitamin D-3 for pain? Or maybe pain-free.
Getting more vitamin D-3 may help you to gradually get partial pain relief and improved mood. The only vitamin source you get from the sun. Supplementation is the best way for almost everyone and very cost effective .
Unlike some vitamins that begin working in the body immediately after being consumed, vitamin D must be processed by the liver and kidneys into a form (calcitriol) that can attach to vitamin D receptors in most of the body’s cells. Your body stores one form of previtamin D, called dehydrocholesterol, in the skin. When your skin absorbs sunlight, it is transformed into vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol).
Once Per Day May keep Pain Away
Most people may benefit from adding 4-5,000 IU of Vitamin D-3 per day.
You would have to take very high levels of vitamin D over an extended period for it to get toxic. It’s important to talk to your doctor before taking high doses of vitamin D. You would have to take very high levels of vitamin D over an extended period for it to get toxic. It’s important to talk to your doctor before taking high doses of vitamin D even for stress. You should ask your Chiropractor how Vitamin D-3 could be added to your total wellness program.
As always, I wish you the best of health. And yes, we too say this with Passion…

Amazing things happen when we give our body what it needs.
And not so amazing things happen when we don’t.
